Rafts have been giving me some separation issues where the last layer of the raft sticks way too well to the intended print piece. Skirts help tremendously with priming the nozzle before the first print. Rafts/Skirts: I've been experimenting with the use of rafts and skirts. As for root cause my best guess is that I was using an older spool of aftermarket filament that was probably stale. I used the S3D troubleshooting guide online. I adjusted the extrusion multiplier and filament feed rate to take care of this. The only issue I've encountered was some small gaps between the infill and the outer layers. UPDATE: I've been printing with S3D and a stock Duo 2.0A without many issues. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

I've attached a picture of the part that shows the issue. This creates a small filament loop which builds up and then sticks to the nozzle creating more problems in its path. Where it returns may or may not have an infill layer to adhere to.

The printer makes it to the virtual edge and returns in its path. The issue appears to be that there is no overlap on some area of the top layer. The printer then prints the outer shells of this. The wall is appx.35cm thick so the printer leaves a. When the printer transitions from the base to the vertical wall it does not extrude an entire top layer over the base. The part I'm printing is much like an "L" bracket. NOTE: My best guess is that there is an issue caused by the top layer adhering to the infill when the first top layer that is being extruded isn't meant to reach the edge of the part. I recently added more top layers but this is just hiding the issue with more filament. I've tinkered with the extrusion multiplier, print speed and extrusion speed and haven't seen any improvements. This issue doesn't exist on smaller flat surfaces. I only have encountered this is issue with long (7-10+cm) and flat (parallel to the bed) surfaces. ISSUE: Solid top surfaces don't adhere to infill which cause the filament to stick up and out interrupting the progression of filament extrusion and the proceeding layers. I would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations on this issue if anyone has had similar issues. I end up with a really rough finish on the part. UPDATE: I'm having an issue with the top surface layers not adhering to the infill layer. They actually have pretty good customer service IMO. I'm not passing judgement but if you have an authentic copy of Simplif圓D then open a ticket and they'll walk you through any troubleshooting procedure. I believe that support for the DaVinci models is in a release that came after the latest underground release. Last thing is that there are some issues when calibrating the DaVinci machine with certain not so authentic copies of Simplif圓D. The only way to get all the features to work properly is to flash your firmware to something else. You have to level the printer using the on-board calibration tool. Please note that I continue to use my DaVinci with Simplify 3D but I've never bothered checking to see if these features have been activated in the latest updates. You cannot adjust temperatures for example. While Simplif圓D will connect to the DaVinci it will do so with very limited features.

Furthermore, to the best of my knowledge you cannot use the manual jog on Simplif圓D.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.Ĭheck your Port, Baud Rate and verbose box.
Simplify 3d 2 extruder demo update#
I'll do what I can to update the community. If I do this it connects fine, otherwise I'll get a connection failure.
Simplify 3d 2 extruder demo software#
NOTE: At the moment I need to open the Simplif圓D software first and then turn on the printer before attempting to connect. CHECK THE VERBOSE CHECKBOX (Note: I have no idea why but this was the difference maker).Select the correct Baud Rate (Mine uses 115200).Select the correct Port (Mine uses Com5).Select Da Vinci 2.0 from printer selection.

Install XYZWare (This will install Arduino and Rambo Drivers0.The price is also the same that others charge for filament. I'm surprisingly OK with paying $25.00 for 600G cartridges. Not exactly ideal but I can live with it. I plan on filling a new ABS cartridge with HIPS and saving the filament for my printrbot. Simplif圓D + Da Vinci 2.0A - Simplify 3D will allow me to operate the two heads at different setting which for me means HIPS or some other soluble filament. No combination allowed! Arghh! XYZ is really letting a great opportunity pass them by here, They need to sell a soluble filament. Stock, the machine requires that you use two of the same cartridges. I bought this thing for $421.00 and couldn't be happier but it's really lacking one feature. It will operate the Da Vinci line without downgrading the firmware or flashing a new OS on the board.ĭa Vinci 2.0A - It works great. Simplif圓D - Love it or hate it, it works and it supports many printers natively. Long time Simplif圓D owner, First time Da Vinci 2.0A owner, here are my initial reactions.
